This crowd suffocates me
My identity sun-dried and preserved
Can’t wait to revel in solitude
For I need serious conversations with myself
A duel with my demons
And reprimands from my guardian angel
She’s been off duty too long
This crowd suffocates me
My identity sun-dried and preserved
Can’t wait to revel in solitude
For I need serious conversations with myself
A duel with my demons
And reprimands from my guardian angel
She’s been off duty too long

This is WONDERFUL. I especially love the 2nd line, as I can relate to that feeling–but the whole piece is really good. I also enjoyed your About, but there were so may comments that I didn’t leave mine there. You make some great points about paternity–please know you have a Father in Heaven who loves you more than anyone, and He created you with love, so uniquely that you may shine for Him. He’s given you a lovely writing talent, intelligence, perseverance–and no doubt, many other gifts to share with the world. So keep going, walk in His grace and you’ll live the blessed life 🙂

I read this comment but I was too stunned
by its genuine gentleness that I couldn’t find it in my diction to reply. Thanks so much Jael, there are times when I doubt God even exists but as every sun rises, his presence is too strong to be assumed. Thanks again Jael

I’m so glad that you “heard” gentleness in my words–as that is surely the Holy Spirit speaking. The Holy Trinity doesn’t bash people over the heads with a message–God’s “still small voice” is full of Jesus’ grace. I’m going to post a quotation soon–about doubt and faith–that you may like. Be assured that God isn’t shocked or disappointed by our seasons of doubt, George. He just loves us, and walks us through them. You’re going to be fine–and you’re going to SHINE–I believe it in my heart ❤

Thank you so much Jael, this torn world needs people like you to hold it in place with message of hope. I’m glad I met you–albeit virtually.

Lovely poem. Yes, we need a healthy mix of solitude and togetherness.
In solitude we can breathe, calm and feel the truth; the answers.
