Everything was happening so fast I didn’t even have time to contemplate. He was floored, a stream of blood gushing out of his mouth forming a pool on the ground below his chin. He spread his legs and winced in pain, speaking a language I’m yet to understand; this language you speak when your tongue is glued on the floors of your mouth and you still feel sign language isn’t enough to reveal the depth of pain that your entire system is drowning in. His eyes were a lifeless terror-stricken orbs foraging through the crowd for any person with even a vestige of humanity left in him to give a helping hand. The hysteria hadn’t calmed when they brought the last of weapon to end it all; a boulder whose full weight got four men clench their teeth and crash! He was gone…drugged by greed and ill-will. Wails, sirens, laughter and tears make a weird cocktail for those highly susceptible to melancholy. I sigh. Blow his brains, blow his brains. Muggers haven’t got a prayer!
There are very many people who love art but just a handful have the heart of art. It’s hard being an artist, but again being an artist can be fun. In art you can thrive or merely survive but all these have a great bearing on your attitude your goal and commitment to your art. Do you merely want to be famous? Do you want to make just money or do you want to create an impact and change lives with your God given talent?
Finding answers to this question will give you an answer to the purpose of your art. I have been a spoken word artiste for some time, not as long as your favorite but never be surprised if you heard of your favorite poet quoting my name or better quoting my lines amidst his/her performance. This happens. Anyway I will not delve in the whole issue of finding your purpose in your industry, I guess the day you decided you will be an artist you had that already figured out; if you want to make money, go ahead and don’t just make money but make more that you be nicknamed ‘money’ as they did to Mayweather. If you are in pursuit of fame then I would advise that there are other avenues that can give fame quicker; if you live in Nyeri you will know how rapping chicken and donkeys can make you famous within just minutes after the act. Why not try that? Or better yet just wake up one morning and chop the heads of your family; the next day you will be on CNN!
What am I driving at? In my opinion, no artists should prioritize fame, I believe that when you do your art fueled by passion, you will not only change lives but money and fame will chase you pants down. Take time to invest in your art by giving the best of you and building bridges that will see you pass the toughest of terrains as you pursue your ultimate goal which obviously is known only to you.
You never know who might be part of the audience
I have also learnt to make the most of my time on stage. It doesn’t matter whether you were paid to perform or not, learn to make the most of your time on stage; give your best whether the event is poorly attended or the hall is filled to thrice its recommended capacity- every audience is worth of the best from you plus you never know who might be in the audience; Do it like you were overpaid to do it! You may be surprised to be asked to remain behind and the deal you may land may change your life forever. I hope you’ll find your quest JJJJJJJ
A lot of men think they are doing women a favour by asking for her hand in marriage, but lets think about this :
she changes her name,
changes her home,
leaves her family,
moves in with you,
builds a home with you,
gets pregnant for you,
pregnancy changes her body,
She bears the shame of walking with the evidence that she had sex
she gets fat,
almost gives up in the labour room due to the unbearable pains of child birth,
even the kids she delivers bear your name.
Till the day she dies…
everything she does, (cooking, cleaning your house, taking care of your parents,
bringing up your children, earning, advising you, ensuring you can be relaxed, maintaining all family relations, everything that benefit you…..sometimes at the cost of her own health , hobbies and beauty.
so who is really doing whom a favour?
Dear men appreciate the women in your lives always, coz it is not easy to be a woman.
*Being a woman is priceless *;;
